The ultimate Christmas scam and cool viral Christmas videos

Yahoo has a great article out right now on the 12 scams of Christmas.  Can’t you just here the song in your head?

“…On the first scam of Christmas my true love gave to me a stolen Nintendo Wii”

Here is the list of the scams that Yahoo talks about in the article: Fake holiday help. Fake charities.  Fake check scams.  Counterfeit merchandise. Fake vacation rentals.  Nondelivery of stuff bought online.  Email scams.  Phishing scams.  Watch for the “items-off-of-a-truck” scam. Limited quantities.  Bait and switch. Layaway plans.

Although it was a great article they forgot THE ULTIMATE Christmas scam that millions and millions of people fall for every year, and it’s called the “stuff scam.” What is the stuff scam? Glad you asked. The stuff scam is when the media, and the culture we live in, convince us that the Christmas season is about stuff, and I fall for it every year! Remember, that Christmas is all about this FREE GIFT that we are offered, and that it all starts with the birth of the savior of the world!  Hallelujah!

Check out this really cool video from Kuinerrarmiut Elitnaurviat 5th Grade class in Quinhagak, Alaska. They put together this Hallelujah Chorus video in about 10 hours, it went viral, and it now has over a million hits!

    So true… I am a big victim of the ultimate scam. Sometimes it’s really hard to remember what we’re are really supposed to be celebrating. My whole family likes the Hallelujah video.

    P.S: I was just at a live reading of the Nativity Story by Micheal W. Smith. Really cool.

    P.P.S: Not up to thinking of a second scam of Christmas right now, maybe later.

    Hi Barry,

    I love to shop but Christmas for me has one meaning and that is love. I don’t need big ticket items for someone to their love, or give a big ticket item to show my love. When I start thinking
    about all the people who are without a home, heat or food, I think really are you serious. No, I am not going to spend a lot of money on something that really isn’t going to last forever. So this year, my kids will get a handpicked gift from me that will show them I love them and it will be something they will remember and cherish :) My best gift so far this season was my granddaughter told me she believes God sent me straight from heaven. I asked her why, I am not perfect, I yell sometimes and lose my temper, she said because you show everyone you love them and you know how to make them smile. Doesn’t get any better than that.
